
The History

The first iteration of the House at The Terraces was built
1817-1828
1834 - 1909
the terraces were purchased by william boykin, and the home was passed down through the family.


1909-1923
Charlotte de Macklot Thompson purchased the property as a summer home.
1923 -1947
The Terraces became a school, following the tragic Cleveland School fire. You can see where the desks were bolted to the floor and the old school fountain.


1950-1997
Gladys R. Schreiber purchased the house with her husband, Dr. Herbert Schreiber, a compassionate physician.
1997 -2020
The Brewers fully restored the home and began clearing the historic gardens, bringing new life to the estate.


2020-2025
Guided by various landscape and history books, the Zion's expanded the gardens from two acres to five. They cleared hundreds of trees from the overgrown terraces, planted tens of thousands of bulbs, and introduced thousands of mature plants and trees. The house also underwent restoration work and an expansion!
